Schoolwide Event Management and Reservations System:
Productivity improvement. Implement the Dean Evans Associates Event Management System. Integrates event management and reservations tasks into a single Schoolwide system. Task force to analyze current Schoolwide event management and reservations business processes, identify business and functional requirements. Provides workflow support in reviewing and approving events. Allows individuals to create events and make room and equipment reservations and drop the events and reservations into their Exchange/Outlook personal calendars. Prerequisite to Event Registration and Payments System.
Catalyst to bSpace Learning Management System Migration:
Instructional support and collaboration improvement. Migrate from the Haas Catalyst Learning Management System to the Berkeley campus bSpace LMS. Faculty, staff, and students can create project or course websites to build community, share knowledge, and work together in an online environment. bSpace is the first step toward providing the Berkeley campus with a single, integrated, easy-to-use collaboration and learning system.
Student Information Systems Replacements and Integration - Phase II:
Productivity and collaboration improvement. Design, develop, test, and deploy a new Student Services and Registration system and a new Student Registration web interface. Replaces two separate legacy systems which no longer meet the School's business and functional requirements. Provides integration of student course schedule management, enrollments processing, course information management, and reporting services.
Admissions System Replacement Feasibility Study & Planning:
Productivity and collaboration improvement. Research and recommend alternatives for deploying a new Admissions system. Replaces separate legacy systems which no longer meet the School's business and functional requirements. Provides integration of features used by all Admissions units, and provides more robust analytics and reporting services.
Orientation Week System Replacement:
Productivity and collaboration improvement. Design, develop, test, and deploy a new Orientation Week system. Replaces separate legacy system, which no longer meets the School's business and functional requirements. Requires integration with E-Commerce project (see Infrastructure section below). Provides more robust analytics and reporting services.
CareerNet Authentication Module Replacement:
Productivity improvement. Replace current login method for CareerNet. Improves productivity of Career Center staff and improves access for corporate partners. Provides single sign-on for students.
Disaster Recovery & Contingency Plan:
School-wide project with assignment to all units. Publish a plan for protecting and restoring the School's services in the event of a major disruption of service.
Haas Data Warehouse:
Decision support improvement. Prerequisite project for other decision support and customer relationship management projects. Develop a data warehouse providing access to Haas student and corporate relations data, as a central location from which the data is published. As part of this project, a set of tools to query, analyze, and present information will be developed. Initial units supported include Development, Alumni Relations, and the Deans office.
Customer Relationship Management System:
Communications and decision support improvement. Deploy the Microsoft Customer Relationship System / Campaign Management System Schoolwide. Build a corporate relations contact management database that integrates with the Microsoft Exchange/Outlook email and calendar system. The information captured would be aggregated and archived in the Haas Data Warehouse for decision support.
Replace Academic Affairs System:
Productivity and security improvement. Replaces the Academic Affairs System that supports a suite of functional areas: curricular planning and scheduling, instructional point counter management, faculty human resources management, faculty biobibs and cvs. Migrates the current system from Microsoft Access and Perl to .NET. Provides user interface improvements that were not possible to develop using the legacy technology.
Leading Through Innovation Project. Design, build, test, and implement the authentication module for a new Career Center system for coaching and improving job interview skills. The authentication module provides single sign-on capability for students. The new system allows students to upload videotaped sessions of themselves, answering various interview questions. The Career Center staff then evaluate the student's ability to answer the interview questions by studying the uploaded videos. The system enables the Career Center staff to provide feedback and coaching to improve interview skills, and allows the staff to create and archive of "best-practice" responses to particular types of interview questions and situations.
AirBears Wireless 802.11n Upgrade:
Infrastructure performance improvement. Schoolwide wireless network infrastructure upgrade. Increases network speeds. Provides better support for resource-intensive applications including video streaming, Voice Over IP phone services, and others.
SiteCore Content Development:
Productivity and collaboration improvement. The system helps School units and groups to create and maintain web pages and content with no web programming knowledge. Develop templates and layouts that are designed according to the Haas corporate web site style and navigation standards. Also develop workflow, review, and approval processes. This development may be outsourced.
Schoolwide productivity improvement. Design, develop, test, implement, and document methods for integrating authentication and authorization services to provide single sign-on to Haas systems and services. Revise each Haas system and service over time as resources permit.
Evaluate Migration of Undergraduate Accounts to CalNet:
Productivity improvement. Provides single sign-on capability. Evaluate using CalNet accounts for Undergraduate students in order to facilitate single sign-on for all Undergraduate Student Information Systems.
Identity and Roles Management System:
Productivity and security improvement. Create a robust Identity and Roles Management system. Adjusts a user's level of access and authorization over time, triggered by lifecycle requirements. Supports multiple roles and responsibilities per user. Prerequisite for all web services applications projects.
Schoolwide Database Standardization:
Data management and quality, cost savings improvement. Standardize all data across all administrative systems. Consolidate all data into centralized repositories. Eliminate data silos. Align the way the School represents data with how it is done on the Berkeley campus and in Industry.

New technical support service. For ladder-rank Faculty, provide Mac desktop and laptop support via Berkeley campus IST-DOCS staff. For all customers, provide limited Mac desktop and laptop support, such as network connections, printing, and file sharing services. Add Microsoft Office 2008 to the Microsoft campus site license program. Provide support for dual-boot or virtual installation of Microsoft Windows XP and Vista.
Productivity and collaboration improvement. Five use cases: team support, integrated web and email discussion forums, teaching support, community engagement, Intranet. Deploy Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007. Design, evaluate, buy, build, test, and deploy, tools that support ad-hoc team collaboration, document sharing with version control, discussion forums, surveys, and group web site creation and maintenance. Provide document library, photo library, discussion forums, WIKI, Blogs, etc. Integrate the MOSS 2007 collaboration product with Exchange/Outlook email and calendar system.
Mobile Device and Smartphone Support and Services:
Schoolwide productivity improvement. Conduct School-wide survey to determine types of Smartphones and mobile devices used. Develop and deploy email and calendar integration services (with Microsoft Exchange) for WindowsMobile Smartphones and iPhone 3G. Provide limited support for PalmOS (e.g., Treo) and Blackberry Smartphones.
Peers@Haas System Phase II:
Leading Through Innovation Project. Design, build, test, and implement a system to track and manage professional skills and behavior improvements. Facilitate coaching and mentorship to improve targeted skills and behaviors. Provide robust survey and messaging capabilities. Captures data for various reports and for research purposes.
Haas Project Server Pilot:
Change Management improvement. Pilot the use of Microsoft Project Server to improve ability to manage multiple projects across the School.
Microsoft Exchange 2003 Service Migration:
Productivity improvement. Integrates various Schoolwide Systems. Schoolwide system for email and personal calendars. Provide full support of the Microsoft Outlook Email client and Exchange server products Schoolwide. Using a Production deployment plan, migrate all Haas email accounts to Exchange and Outlook.
Microsoft Exchange 2003 to 2007 Upgrade:
Productivity improvement. Integrates various Schoolwide Systems. Migrate the schoolwide Microsoft Exchange 2003 email servers to Exchange 2007. Then upgrade email storage quotas for all users. Prepare Exchange 2007 for integration with other systems and services as required.
E-Commerce Service Upgrades:
Security improvement. Prerequisite to Event Registration System project, other Center for Executive Development and Alumni Relations unit projects. Develop a reusable toolkit that includes store front, shopping cart, checkout, and full transaction processing capabilities as a standard solution for all Haas units. Provide the ability to apply line-item discount methods and product bundle discounts. Initial units supported include the MBA Program Office (for O-Week), California Management Review, and the Center for Executive Development.
Pilot Gigabit Ethernet to Faculty Offices:
Faculty productivity and infrastructure performance improvement. Increases network bandwidth to faculty offices. Tests the feasibility of providing high-speed gigabit Ethernet connections to faculty offices using the existing network cable.
Datacenter Network Capacity Increase:
Infrastructure capacity improvement. Adds network services to the computer room, datacenter, to support the increase in servers and Schoolwide systems.
Datacenter Electrical Capacity Increase:
Infrastructure reliability improvement. Adds electric service to the computer room, datacenter, to support the increase in servers and Schoolwide systems.
Replace Datacenter Uninterruptible Power Supplies:
Infrastructure reliability improvement. Replace the legacy BEST uninterruptible power supplies with a new high-capacity system.
Datacenter Air Conditioning Replacement:
Infrastructure reliability improvement. Replaces aging, original computer room, datacenter air conditioning and climate control systems.
Upgrade SQL Databases:
Security improvement. Feature enhancement. Migrate and upgrade all SQL databases from Microsoft SQL Server 2000 to 2005.
SiteCore Content Management System Deployment:
Productivity and collaboration improvement. Install, configure, and deploy the SiteCore content management systems for creating and maintaining web pages and content. The system helps School units and groups to create and maintain web pages and content with no web programming knowledge. SiteCore also provides version control and the ability to develop and review content before publishing it on the School's web site. A Haas task force selected the SiteCore CMS because it met both the School's Business and IT architecture requirements and standards.
