The Berkeley Real Estate Club and the Haas Real Estate Group sponsor external real estate competitions: the National Association of Office and Industrial Properties (NAIOP) Challenge against Stanford University and the Bank of America Low Income Housing Challenge against other graduate schools in California, as well as the National Real Estate Challenge held at the Univesity of Texas, Austin, sponsored by Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan Chase, Merrill Lynch, Bear Stearns and Wells Fargo.


The Real Estate and Finance Groups at Haas also field a five-member team to participate in a fixed income case competition against MBAs from Wharton, the University of Chicago, MIT, Carnegie Mellon, and Columbia University. This competition is sponsored by Carnegie Mellon's Finance Club, Merrill Lynch, and Appaloosa Management, L.P.

Membership on these competitive teams gives students unparalleled hands-on experience with real world development and investment banking problems and the opportunity to demonstrate expertise in world-class venues.
