PEL - Partners for Entrepreneurial Leadership

Partners for Entrepreneurial Leadership (PEL), a division of Entrepreneurs Association and sponsored by the Lester Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, offers summer internship opportunities to our members.

PEL is designed to be a platform for students interested in working for a start-up company to collaborate on independent job searches and work together to land the job we want. PEL is a means of sharing contact lists and opportunities and generating leads as a group, harnessing the power of the Haas network.

The PEL mission is threefold:

  1. PEL matches students with growing, entrepreneurial companies in Summer Internships where they are able to make a significant impact at the firm. PEL's focus is on smaller, high growth companies that do not typically go through the usual recruiting channels.
  2. PEL is an educational program. The PEL program leverages the students' strengths and ambitions and the experience of PEL partner companies' executive teams by pairing each student with a company executive in a mentorship role. Furthermore, PEL interns are expected to write a case based on their experiences over the summer. To provide a diverse set of experiences, PEL sponsors company visits to all companies involved in the PEL program.
  3. PEL is a means for the entrepreneurial minded to network with entrepreneurs and VCs in the field and within the Haas community.

PEL places its members with high-growth companies for summer internships, many of which continue into ongoing projects during the students' second year in the MBA program. PEL interns' projects range from research on prospective investors to sophisticated business and financial planning, and include operations as diverse as developing new computer systems and analyzing and implementing new marketing and distribution channels. PEL interns have worked at organizations as diverse as Hummer Winblad Venture Partners, Maxis Software, and the San Jose Sharks. Follow this link to a Complete Program Description.
