Economic Analysis & Policy Group
The Haas School Economic Analysis & Policy Group is committed to excellence in teaching and research in areas of critical importance in today's business environment, such as globalization, regulation of energy markets and competition in the New Economy.
The EAP Group
We understand how to compete in the market. Our faculty share a common vision and enthusiasm. The EAP group is, according to a recent review, “one of the best in the world”. It includes internationally-renowned scholars and leaders in applied microeconomics and in global macroeconomics. The group is unmatched among business school economics groups in its depth and breadth of expertise and experience in matters of public policy, including antitrust, innovation, telecommunications, energy, airlines, health, banking, human resources, international trade, and strategy. The group’s enormous contribution to business practice and public policy through service in Washington and elsewhere is based on its leading research.
The group takes its teaching responsibilities extremely seriously and its share of teaching awards in recent years is testament to the efficacy of those efforts. The group sees teaching as a central part of its mission and has high standards for all of its members. We teach core classes in Business Decision making, Data and Decisions, Macroeconomics in the Global Economy, and Strategy. We also teach electives on Competitive Corporate Strategy; Energy and the Environment; Strategy, Structure and Incentives; International Finance; Network Strategy; and Game Theory for Negotiations. We take an integrated perspective of the strategy and decisions of the firm, its alignment with internal organization, and its positioning in the market. We teach how to make decisions for business success.
The group has great ambitions for the school. The members of the group take pride in their contributions to the life of the school, the campus, and in the larger policy realms.
