The BFC’s Private Equity Committee strives to foster the network of Cal alumni working in PE and to mentor current students interested in pursuing a career in the industry. To achieve these aims, we:
- Coordinate with Haas alumni in the PE industry.
- Liaise with the Berkeley Private Equity Network. [link to website: www.berkeleypenetwork.org]
- Manage the Private Equity Panel in the Annual Berkeley Finance Conference
- Continue to develop and support a targeted curriculum, for example coordinating the speakers for the PE speaker series.
Organize and manage the Haas student volunteer effort at the annual ACG San Francisco Mergers & Acquisitions Conference and Capital Connection

Adam Valainis
Adam has obtained Private Equity experience as an analyst at GESD Capital, a middle-market Private Equity firm, where he focused on investments in the consumer, restaurant, entertainment and business services sectors. During class terms at Haas, Adam continues his work in private equity as an associate at the Bear Fund, a lower-middle-market fund founded by a graduate of the Haas class of 2009. Adam graduated from the College of the Holy Cross with a BA in Economics and Spanish, and earned an MS in Accounting from the University of Virginia.
