Jim Spitze, Executive Director

As executive director of the Fisher Center, Jim Spitze will guide the center toward global leadership regarding the role of IT management as an enabler of innovation and enduring competitive advantage. Mr. Spitze can be reached at jim_spitze@haas.berkeley.edu or 510-642-8154.
James M. Spitze has had a distinguished career as an IT executive, having served as the CIO for Xerox Data Systems, American President Lines, Tri Valley Growers, and (as a consultant) for QANTAS, Tencor instruments and several other private sector firms. For the last 22 years he has served as the Managing Partner for an IT-Management consulting firm - serving clients such as Clorox, Electronic Arts, The Gap, HP, Intel, Safeway Stores, Union Bank, and almost 100 others. Mr. Spitze has a BS and MSEE from UC-Berkeley. He and his wife, Betty Jean, live on their ranch, Palm Lane Farms, on the Sierran edge of the San Joaquin Valley, SE of Fresno, Ca.
Terrence Hendershott, Faculty Director

Terry Hendershott is an Associate Professor in the Operations and Information Technology group at the Haas School of Business. His recent research involves the impact of technological innovation on traditional financial markets and has extensively addressed how electronic trading systems compete with stock exchanges. Dr. Hendershott spent 2005-06 as Visiting Economist with the New York Stock Exchange. He was recently appointed a Schwabacher Fellow, the highest honor bestowed upon assistant professors by the school, for his outstanding research and exceptional scholarly growth. Dr. Hendershott holds a Ph.D. in Operations, Information, and Technology from the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University and a B.S. in Mathematics and Statistics from Miami University.
