The number of positions, instructors, and appointment percentages are subject to change. The overall appointment percentages, number of hours and total compensation amounts are not finalized until perspective candidates receive a Letter of Appointment from the Haas School of Business.

GSI's and Readers with single or combined appointments of 25% (170 hours) or greater, are in good academic standing with the University of California, Berkeley and are enrolled in a full-time graduate degree program, are entitled to receive a partial fee remission.

First-time GSI's hired during the Fall 2011 semester must attend the central campus GSI Teaching Conference which will take place on Friday, August 19, 2011 from 8:30am - 3:30pm. All first-time international GSI's must also attend Teaching in the U.S. Classroom, which will be held on Thursday, August 18, 2011 from 8:30am - 3pm.

Non-doctoral graduate students hired as first-time GSI's during the fall 2011 semester will also need to attend the MBA300 Pedagogy course which will be held on Thursday, September 8, 2011 from 5:30-9:30pm with the location TBD.

First-time GSI's and Reader's will need to attend the New ASE Orientation which is held by Labor Relations. Typically, four orientations will be scheduled during the month of September and first-time GSI's and Readers will need to attend one of those orientations.

The Haas School of Business wants to remind interested applicants that being appointed as a GSI and/or Reader is not a form of financial aid. Working as a GSI and/or Reader is considered actual employment and appointed students are expected to behave in a professional manner.
