GSI Evaluation Forms

Each semester, the Office of Academic Affairs and Instruction creates evaluation packets for each course. Evaluation packets are distributed to course instructors, who then pass them out to their GSIs. Students fill out these evaluations at the end of the semester, and their feedback is used to help Haas improve its instructional quality. For an example of the GSI Evaluation form, please see the links below.

Evaluation Results and Awards

Once GSI evaluations have been returned, the Office of Academic Affairs and Instruction conducts data analysis to obtain each GSI's score and overall rating, which ranges from 1 to 7, 7 being the highest and 1 the lowest.

Students who receive an overall rating of 4.5 or below are notified by the Associate Dean of Instruction (ADI). These students cannot be reappointed as GSIs the following semester, and they must meet with the course instructor and write a plan for improvement. The plan for improvement is then submitted to the Chair of the Group in charge of the course, who then forwards it to the ADI.

Students who score well on their evaluations may be nominated for the Outstanding Graduate Student Instructor Award, given by the GSI Teaching and Resource Center.

The following are Haas's selection criteria and procedures for nominating Haas GSIs for the Outstanding Graduate Student Instructor Award:
