Steve Dugan, Co-President |

Steve
is a first year MBA candidate and Mayfield Fellow at Haas where he
is focusing on medical technology entrepreneurship. Steve is
currently working on new business ventures in collaboration with the
bioengineering school and others. He spent 5 years at Guidant (most
recently BVS) where he contributed primarily as an engineer and
preclinical scientist. Steve also started a medical device
consulting partnership that focused on helping start-ups with
company structuring, product development, as well as, regulatory and
clinical strategy. He holds a BSE in chemical engineering and an
MSE in biomedical engineering from the University of Michigan.

Laronne Faulkner,
Co-President |
Laronne
is a member of Haas MBA/MPH Class of 2008. Prior to Haas, Laronne
worked for Blue Shield of California as a Business Analyst in the
Strategy and Operations group. Before that, Laronne was a consultant at
a boutique healthcare consulting firm whose clients were medical groups
and payors. Past work also includes 4 years of project management at an
employer purchasing coalition and 1½ years as a Research Associate for
the federal government. At Haas, Laronne interests include consulting,
healthcare administration, and payor/providers. In his free time, he
enjoys skiing, cycling, running, and traveling. Laronne holds a BA in
Human Biology from Stanford University. |

Laura Luecking, Co-President |
Laura
is currently in the dual degree MBA/MPH program class of 2008 with the intent to
pursue a marketing role in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry.
In addition to H2B2, she is also VP Marketing for Women in Leadership
and is an interviewer for potential Haas applicants. Prior to
Haas, she worked for five years at
SCORE! Educational Centers in the San Francisco Bay Area,
most recently as Regional Manager. At
SCORE!, and from her prior
experience in both start-up and non-profit environments, she gained a
significant amount of experience in general management, sales, and
marketing. Laura received her undergraduate degree
from the University of Michigan and obtained a BA in Psychology. In her
spare time, she enjoys reading and knitting, as well as cooking and
camping with her husband. |

Jared Drake, VP
Speaker Series |
Jared is a member of
the Haas and School of Public Health MBA/MPH Class of 2008. Before Haas,
Jared worked for 5 years at the Children's Hospital Boston and the Broad
Institute of MIT and Harvard as computational biologist in the field of
complex-traits genetics. His work has been published in peer reviewed
journals and he has spoken at several international conferences. Jared
has a BA in Biology and Political Science from Williams College and
enjoys cooking, skiing, soccer, and travel.

Celeste
Chang, VP Academics |
Celeste
is a member of the MBA Class of 2008. Prior to attending business
school, she worked for 4 years as a biochemical engineer at Merck and
Co. While at Merck, she worked on vaccine and biologics development,
including process development, scale-up, clinical manufacturing,
technology transfers, and introduction of new process technologies. She
has been involved in products such as Gardasil and clinical candidates
for HIV and cancer. Celeste holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and an
ME in Biomedical Engineering, both from MIT. Her graduate research
focused on chondrocyte (cartilage cells) migration for wound healing and
tissue engineering applications. |

Mariette Fourmeaux, VP Outreach |

Mariette
is a member of the Haas MBA class of 2008. Prior to business
school, Mariette was Product Manager at Mauna Kea Technologies, a
French medical device start-up in Paris, France. She defined the
product development process, turning external user feedback into
product development/enhancement projects, and launched nine
products. Leading to this experience, Mariette found her home at
the intersection of impactful technology and business, through her
management and divestiture consulting experience. Mariette majored
in Engineering and Economics at Brown University. In her precious
free time, Mariette enjoys fine dining and cooking, wine tasting,
rock climbing, dancing and traveling to countries without running
water.

Brent
Guerisoli, Co-VP Conferences |
Brent
is a member of the Haas MBA Class of 2008. Prior to attending Haas,
Brent spent several years as the Director of Sales and Marketing for
Petersen Medical where he was involved in strategic planning, new
product development, and served on the executive management team. Prior
to joining Petersen Medical, he received a BS degree in Business from
Brigham Young University. Brent is pursuing a career in healthcare
administration, and would like to work as an administrator for a major
healthcare organization. In his free time, Brent enjoys participating in
sports, reading, and spending time with his family. |
| Delphina Han,
Co-VP Conferences |
Delphina
is a member of the Haas MBA Class of 2008. Prior to attending Haas, she
worked in the medical device industry at Stryker and at Siemens Medical
as a compliance engineer where her work entailed the functions of
engineering, regulatory and quality. She worked closely with various
cross-functional teams and also led the product safety program at
Stryker Endoscopy. Delphina is exploring a transition into business
development and marketing and continues to have keen interest in the
healthcare industry. She is involved in companion animal welfare
activities and enjoys recreational hockey. Delphina attended Purdue
University where she completed her electrical engineering degree. |
| Jody Ann
Hom, VP Careers |
Jody
is a first year MBA/MPH student with a BS in Biomedical Engineering from
Northwestern University. Prior to Haas, she spent three years as a
product development engineer at a medical device startup, and most
recently was a Corporate Finance Analyst at an intellectual capital
merchant bank, where she was responsible for valuating and assessing
patent portfolios for merger and acquisition deals. After the
joint-degree program, she hopes to pursue strategy or business
development work for a biotechnology or medical device company. In her
free time, Jody enjoys running, cooking, doing crossword puzzles, and
cheering on Big Ten sports. |

| Avital
Levy, Co-VP School of Public Health
|
Avital is a member of the School of
Public Health MPH Class of 2008. Prior to attending Cal, Avital worked
for 2 years at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), Boston as a project
manager on numerous clinical research projects in the early detection of
breast cancer. Her accomplishments at MGH include a paper on the
shortened reading times of Digital Breast Tomosynthesis images as
compared to traditional two view mammography that was presented at RSNA,
in addition to others. Within the School of Public Health, Avital has
concentrated her studies in Health Policy and Management, specifically
Hospital Administration. In her free time she enjoys skiing, hiking,
cooking and traveling. Avital holds a BA in Biology and History from the
University of Rochester." |
| Maya
Melczer, Co-VP School of Public Health |
Maya is a
Health Policy and Management student at the School of Public Health.
Prior to pursing her MPH, she received her BA in Psychology from
Wellesley College and then worked at The Measurement Group, an
independent evaluation firm, where she assisted in process and outcome
assessments for healthcare-related foundations and non-profit groups.
Maya is currently consulting on the evaluation of John Muir Health’s
community benefit programs. At the School of Public Health, her focused
academic interest lies within the area of healthcare quality
measurement, management and improvement. Maya is from Los Angeles and in
her free time enjoys traveling, yoga and cooking gourmet meals. |

Raphael
Michel, VP Entrepreneurship |
Raphael
is a Haas MBA candidate, class of 2008. Before attending Haas, Raphael
spent three years working in an early-stage medical device startup
company, Minnow Medical. As the first hire, he helped the founder build
the company from the ground up, leading the development of a
breakthrough cardiovascular catheter-based system and helping to raise
over $2.5 million in private funding. At Haas, Raphael is focusing on
entrepreneurship and turning life science projects into successful
companies. Raphael grew up near Chamonix in the French Alps, and in his
free time, he enjoys backcountry skiing, snowboarding, and traveling.
Raphael holds a M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University
and participated in the Stanford Biodesign Innovation Program.” |

Janet Ou, VP
External |
Janet is
a member of the Haas MBA Class of 2008. Prior to attending Haas, Janet
worked for 4 years at UBS Investment in the IT department and took on
multiple roles, first as software developer, then as project lead, and
lastly as business analyst. Her accomplishments at UBS include
improving processes, managing revenue reporting applications, and
co-founding the UBS Cultural Awareness Network in the Americas. Outside
of work, Janet has volunteered in numerous hospitals and clinics. At
Haas, she is focused on transitioning into the healthcare industry and
identifying opportunities to leverage her background to help solve
healthcare problems. In her free time Janet enjoys interior decorating,
playing tennis, and listening to NPR. Janet holds a BA in Computer
Science from Duke University. |

Platts, VP Finance |
James
is currently enrolled in the MBA/MPH program at Berkeley and will
graduate in December 2008. Prior to returning to grad school, James
worked as a research analyst at The NASDAQ Stock Market, and then as an
Associate Director of the National Economic Council at the White House.
As a policy staffer at the White House, James worked for the
President's chief economic advisor on a number of issues, primarily
healthcare and Social Security. Outside of school, James enjoys skiing,
running, hiking, and otherwise spending time outdoors since moving to
California from the east coast. James holds an AB in economics from
Harvard University. |

Bob Sise, VP
Internal Marketing and Communication |
Bob
is a first year
MBA/MPH student with a BA in History and Pre-Medicine from the
University of Notre Dame. Prior to Haas, he
went to Ecuador on a
Fulbright Scholarship to analyze
and assist in the development of self-sustaining healthcare systems in
rural communities.
Following his
Fulbright experience, Bob worked as a project specialist at the Consumer
Center for Health Education and Advocacy in San Diego CA. In his free
time, Bob enjoys traveling in Latin America, running, body surfing, and
hiking. |

Heather Stevens, VP Sponsorship |
Prior
to attending Haas, Heather was a consultant for five years with Health
Strategies Group, a strategy and research firm serving large
pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients. She lead teams of analysts
and consultants on engagements including pricing for new oral agents,
positioning of specialty products in Medicare formularies, hospital
contracting, sales force effectiveness, and employer marketing
strategy. Heather earned her Bachelor's degree in Human Biology and
Master's in Sociology from Stanford University. At Haas, Heather is
also involved in the Women in Leadership club and serves as the student
liaison to the Graduate Program in Health Management alumni. After
graduation, Heather is interested in a pursuing a strategy or business
development role in the healthcare industry. |
| Philip
X. Xiang, VP EWMBA |
Phil
Xiang works for Roche Molecular Systems, a pioneer of PCR technology and
a market leader in medical diagnostics. In his role as the Director of
Bioinformatics, he leads a team of scientists who conduct research in
cancer genomics and personalized medicine. Prior to joining RMS, he was
Manager of Scientific Computing at Bay Area biotech company Tularik Inc,
which was acquired by Amgen. There, he led a team of scientists to mine
the emerging human genome sequence for therapeutic targets and to
develop small molecule drugs for cancer and other complex diseases. He
received a B.A. in physics from Peking University, an M.S. in physics
from the University of Notre Dame and a Ph.D. in Biophysics from
Brandeis University. If all goes according to plan, he will also have an
MBA from the Haas School of Business. In his leisure time, when he
manages to find such, he likes to take it to the hills and woods,
whether leaf-strewn or snow packed. |
