Academics

The Haas School of Business is the pre-eminent school on the West Coast for studying Healthcare Management.  The school offers two unique programs to suit student’s needs: the 2 year Healthcare Management Certificate and the 2.5 year MBA/MPH dual degree program.  Both programs prepare graduates for leadership in all aspects of healthcare including care delivery and financing, biotechnology and medical devices, information technology and consulting.

The HHA works closely with Health Management faculty to identify student needs, revise course curriculum and propose new courses.  Most recently the HHA worked with faculty to revise the requirements of the Health Management Certificate program and to develop three new courses: Healthcare Marketing, Strategic Management of Biotechnology and Pharmaceuticals and Innovations in Healthcare.

In addition, the HHA organizes a 1-unit speaker series course during the Fall Semester that brings external industry experts to campus to present a case study and discuss their experience in industry.  Last year’s Healthcare Speaker Series included representatives from Deloitte Consulting, Roche Diagnostics, McKesson and Johnson & Johnson among many others.  These speakers covered a wide range of topics including: mergers & acquisitions in the pharmaceutical industry, strategic marketing in the biotechnology industry, business development for insurance products and management consulting in the life-sciences industry.  Currently, we are in the process of putting together another great line up of speakers for this fall’s speaker’s series.
