Changing Account Settings
In this next window we input all of our user information and server settings.
Enter your name and e-mail address.
Under "Server Information" make sure that the Account Type says "IMAP" and specify the incoming mail server as
"mail.haas.berkeley.edu" and the outgoing mail server as "smtp.haas.berkeley.edu".
Input your user name and password (the user name is the part of your e-mail address that comes before the @).
Some additional settings must be specified, so click on "More Settings..."

Choosing a Name for the Account
Name your mail account something that is easy to remember, such as "Haas", this is the name that will show up
on your e-mail folder. Optionally you can enter and organization and reply e-mail in this tab. Click on "Outgoing
Server".
You also have the option of checking the box "Purge items when switching folders while online" any
messages marked for deletion will be deleted if you open a different mailbox from the one you are in. If this box is
not checked you will have to manually purge the messages by going to File > Purge messages.

Outgoing Server Settings
Because the mail servers want to make sure that the correct person is sending mail you need to put a check in the
box that says "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication". The login settings should be the same as
the incoming server, so mark the bubble that says "Use same settings as my incoming mail server". When you
are done click on "Advanced"

Encryption Settings
To increase mail safety the servers encrypt mail.
Under "Incoming Server" make sure to select "SSL" from the dropdown menu next to "Use the following type of
encrypted connection:" and make sure that the port is set to 993.
Under "Outgoing Server" set the type of connection to "Auto" and make sure the port is set to 25. However port
25 may not work outside the campus network and you won't be able to send mail. If this is the case, try ports 587,
465, or 336 as other options.
Click OK. When this window closes click "Next >"
