Antonio Fuentes
LAHBA – President

Venezuela
Antonio Fuentes graduated with both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Engineering degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1999. He has over eight years of professional experience in the fields of Engineering, Consulting, Strategy, Process Engineering and Management. Antonio has a passion for Technology that has allowed him to work in a variety of industries and in places all over the Americas, such as the oil fields in the Gulf of Mexico, a newspaper in his native Venezuela, a government office in Mexico City, and half of the states in the United States. Before coming to Haas, Antonio worked as a sales solution architect for Hewlett-Packard. Antonio is also an avid swimmer and has been an archeology tour guide in Guatemala and Mexico.
In his role as president of LAHBA, Antonio wants to create a close community and a sense of family within the international and Hispanic community. In addition, he wants to provide opportunities for professional growth for every member, particularly in a year with tough economic conditions.

Mauricio Abadia
LAHBA – VP Finance

Colombia
Mauricio Abadia graduated from the University of Virginia in 2004 where he earned a B.S. in Systems Engineering with distinction. Prior to Haas he worked as senior consultant at Deloitte Financial Advisory Services in Bogota, Colombia. Mauricio’s consulting work focused on company and intangible asset valuations, public-private partnerships, and project finance. Parallel to Deloitte he developed a keen interest in value investing and in emerging markets.
At Haas, Mauricio is the VP of Finance of the LAHBA Club. In this role, he is responsible for the financial management of the club. Mauricio is also the VP of Technology of the Investment Club.

Fabio Massuda
LAHBA – VP Careers & Alumni

Brazil
Fabio obtained his BSc degree in Aeronautics-Mechanical Engineering from the Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica – ITA in Brazil in 2003.
Prior to Haas, Fabio worked for Monitor Group in its top management consulting company, serving clients in several industries as financial institutions, fast-moving consumer goods, telecom and basic materials. His experience includes M&A (sell and buy side), organizational redesign and development of growth and innovation strategies for clients in South America and Europe.
As the VP of Careers, Fabio is bringing professional opportunities in LAHBA-related countries to the Haas community as well as helping LAHBA members to obtain positions in companies in the US. As the VP of Alumni, Fabio fosters the network and bridges the alumni network with the LAHBA community.

Cristián Sjögren
LAHBA – VP Communications and Technology

Chile
Cristián Sjögren holds a B.S. in Industrial Engineer and a Major in Mechanical Engineer from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile in 2003. Prior to Haas, Cristián led during 3 years the Sales & Marketing department of ENINSA, a fast growing gas appliances manufacturer that has innovated the Chilean market. Previously, he led an important R&D project for CEM, the largest gas water heater manufacturer of Latin America, and developed an innovative product that allowed the company to recover its competitive positioning. In 2003, he carried out an ambitious research project about porous media gas burners, a cutting edge green technology that reduces carbon footprints and fuel consumption.
At Haas, Cristián is LAHBA’s VP of Communications and Technology. In this role, he is looking forward to innovate Labha’s technology platform and communication channels. Additionally, Cristián is leading the Haas Squash League.

Pedro Kudrnac
LAHBA – Co-VP Marketing & Competition

Argentina
Pedro holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Universidad de San Andres (Argentina) where he graduated in 2002.
Prior to coming to Berkeley he has worked for 5 year in Unilever where he entered as a Young Professional trainee. He held brand management positions working for different brands such as Ala, Axe and Sunsilk. He has experience managing brands targeted at different consumers in local and regional positions. Prior to that, he has worked in India as a volunteer with the Missionaries of Charity and in Argentina during its financial crisis as an analyst with Capital Markets Argentina and Bank Hoffman.
At Haas, Pedro is Co-VP of Marketing and Special Events of the Latin American and Hispanic Business Association and a Mentor at Young Entrepreneurs at Haas.

Gonzalo Perez-Salazar
LAHBA – Co-VP Marketing & Competition

Mexico
Gonzalo holds a BS in Industrial Engineering and System Services from the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico and is presently a 2010 MBA candidate at the Haas School of Business.
Before Haas, Gonzalo volunteered at Fundacion Altius, an NGO providing quality education to impoverished children in Latin America, on its fundraising and performance measurement strategy. Prior to Fundacion Altius, he worked for four years at UBS, focusing on capital raising and M&A transactions in various industries throughout Latin America. Previously, Gonzalo held managerial positions in a construction services firm working for government infrastructure projects and was founder of a small media company in Mexico.

Valeria Guirola
LAHBA –Co-VP of Social & Community

El Salvador
Valeria holds a B.S. in Business Management and Finance from Menlo College, Atherton CA.
Prior to attending Haas Valeria worked for three years at an online search marketing start up in Palo Alto, CA. Valeria focused on financial growth and analysis. Valeria then moved to a digital media start up in San Francisco, where she helped the company develop efficient processes and complete M&A integration. Valeria is committed to promote community outreach and diversity. She is an active member of the Financial Women’s Association of San Francisco and the National Hispanic Society of MBAs.
Valeria is very excited to be part of the Haas community. She is part of the Women in Leadership Club and Consulting Club leadership teams.

Pablo Urbaneja

Venezuela
Pablo holds a BS degree in Production Engineering from the Universidad Simon Bolivar, in Caracas Venezuela.
After his major he worked for over 5 years in the aerospace industry in Europe leading teams and projects of different nature. Based in Luzern, Switzerland, Pablo went from working as a process engineer in the manufacturing department to leading the Sales and Program Management team during the last two years of his engagement.
At Haas, Pablo is committed to leave his mark by bonding the Latin-American community through social and community activities. He is also committed to make everybody remember that there is more than academics and job hunt at the Haas School of Business.

Ignacio Larrain
LAHBA – VP of Admissions

Chile
Ignacio holds a B.S. in Industrial Engineering and a major in Mechanical Engineering from Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile. He graduated in the year 2003.
Previous to Haas Ignacio worked for 4 years at Banco de Credito e Inversiones, one of the major commercial banks in Chile. He started on a trainee program for three months and was then promoted to Financial Advisor on the Private Banking Department. After this, he was promoted to Advisor to the VP of the Retail Division with a very active role in the strategic planning process of the company.
Ignacio is our VP of Admissions and he will work closely with the MBA Admissions Office to achieve and excellent selection process so the most talented people choose to come to Haas, and also to help new admits settle down and get the best of Haas and the Berkeley community from the day they arrive.

Carlos Orellana
LAHBA – Co-VP Marketing

El Salvador
Carlos Orellana received his BS in Systems Engineering from the University of Virginia in 2002.
Prior to coming to Haas, Carlos worked as a consultant for Endeavor, a non-for-profit organization dedicated to supporting entrepreneurship in emerging economies. In this role, Carlos advised diverse early-stage businesses in Argentina and Uruguay on strategic, financial, operational and capital raising issues. During the five years prior to Endeavor, Carlos worked with Rothschild’s investment banking team in New York and Madrid, focusing on Corporate Restructuring and Mergers & Acquisition transactions. He is presently a 2010 MBA/MPH candidate at the Haas School of Business and the Berkeley School of Public Health.
As VP of Marketing, his goal is to continue growing Latin America’s presence at Haas as well as Haas’s presence in Latin America.
