
Anthony Garcia
President
Anthony Garcia is from Antioch, CA and is currently a senior at the University of California, Berkeley with an expected graduation date of May 2008. As a Business Administration major, Anthony is actively involved in the Latino Business Student Association and the Haas community. As President, his most important goal for LBSA is to ensure its members are provided with the highest quality in professional development and exposure to academic resources. Over the course of the year, he intends to bring LBSA another step closer to its newly established vision – To be recognized as the premier diverse business organization at UC Berkeley that successfully transitions its members into the Walter A. Haas School of Business and Corporate America. In his spare time, Anthony enjoys reading the writings of renowned leaders such as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and organizational behavior gurus from the likes of Rosabeth Moss Kanter to John Kotter. He is also a program mentor for Young Entrepreneurs as Haas an after school program geared at providing disadvantaged youth with educational resources and exciting them about college. In the future he hopes to continue his avid pursuit of assisting Latinos and other minorities with their educational and career goals. He enjoys going to new restaurants with his wife and new born son Isayah.
Robert Perez
Internal Affairs
Robert Perez is a second semester at Cal. He started last spring. He is majoring in Business Administration and possibly double majoring in Political Economics of Industrial Societies. He was born in Stockton, California and he has lived there his whole life. He attended Middle College High School and was concurrently enrolled at San Joaquin Delta College. He took college classes in the morning and high school classes in the afternoon. He has been involved with since last Spring. He was student body President in high school and he was captain of the Academic Decathlon team his senior year. His primary goals this year for LBSA is to increase membership from the RAZA community and cosponsor events to bridge with gap between the Latino community. This past summer, he interned with College Works Painting and ran my own business. I also had a job working at his parents’ small business and took classes at a community college. He loves to play and watch soccer. He loves to meet new people, so if you ever see him on campus--don’t hesitate to say hi.

Uriah Buscovich
Academics
Uriah is a third year junior at Cal and is a business administration major. He was born in New York, New York. He grew up 20 minutes from campus (from age 6 to present) in San Leandro, California. He went to a local Catholic school in Oakland, California (Bishop O’Bowd High School). He has been with LBSA for one full semester. His primary goal as the Academic chair is the raise the awareness and stress the importance of academics and GPA within the LBSA family. Uriah says “We all were accepted to UC Berkeley for one reason or another, but one thing we all had in common was a phenomenal academic record and a work ethic to go along with it. Now that we're here, he wants to stress how important it is to maintain exceptional grades and expect a level of academic successwhile in school. My plan is to see an overall increase in our club's average GPA and a stellar jump in our club's Haas acceptance rate.” He was involved with the Freshman Sophomore Business Club his first two years at Cal. He is currently completing his second summer with the Southwestern Company summer internship program. Currently, he is employed at the Recreational Sports Facility and until recently was a lifeguard with the East Bay Regional Park District. He enjoys sports of all kinds along with long walks on the beach. He likes to think of himself as a positive person who thrives on enthusiasm.

Jose Padilla
Information Technology Operator
Jose Padilla is from Long Beach, CA and is a Business and Film Double Major. He has been an LBSAer since last spring and last semester served in three committees. Now Jose is Chair of IT Operations and hopes to create a website that is easlily accessible and effiecnt.Jose joined LBSA in hope of gaining long life friends and learning what it means to be a professional. Jose feels "LBSA has provided so many opportunities" and is very glad to have joined. Jose will be interning with PriceWaterhouse Coopers over the summer and traveling to Italy next spring to study abroad in Milan.Some of Jose's hobbies include playing sports, basketball and volleyball, making films, and writing. Jose enjoys being with his friends, listening to good music and watching movies. Some of his favoirtes include Love and Basketball, FInding Neverland, Rear Window, and the Lion King. He is a very friendly guy with a smile always on his face. If you ever need someone interesting and smart to talk to, he's the guy.

Guido Consenza
Executive Administrator
Guido was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1988. He moved to the United States when he was 2 years old and has lived in the San Fernando Valley since moving. After graduating from Crespi Carmelite High School, in Encino, Guido decided to attend UC Berkeley. His intended major is Business Administration. Guido is currently a 2nd year and has been a member of LBSA since his first semester at Cal. During the second semester of his 1st year, Guido served as co chairman of the marketing committee. This year, he serves as the Executive Administrator and hopes to help LBSA grow and become a well-known association at UC Berkeley. Guido’s hobbies include playing intramural soccer and going to the movies.
Isao Osuga
Finance
Isao is a third year at Cal. He is an Economics major. He was born in Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mexico. He lives in Mexico City for 11 years. He then moved to Tijuana and finally to San Diego where he attended Southwestern Community College. He transferred to Cal Spring of 2007. He joined LBSA last semester and was involved with the finance committee. Now he is happy to be the VP of Finance. He would like to continue the excellent job the previous VP of Finance did and he plans to budget all LBSA events efficiently by analyzing and maximizing opportunities to have fun and contribute to the personal growth of all LBSA members. Isao worked for a marketing research company in San Diego for three years. This summer he interned at Memory Ten, a company that sells computer memory and MAC accessories. He is very passionate about soccer. He plays it on the Play Station and he watches it every weekend. He plays whenever he can.

Desirae Tovar
Marketing Chair
Desirae Tovar was born in Los Angeles, California on May 1, 1987. She lived in Los Angeles until she was four years old when she moved to Ontario, California with her family. She is currently a third year with intended majors of Public Health and Political Economy of Industrial Societies. This is her second year involved in LBSA, and as Marketing Co-Chair she plans to help LBSA grow and expand at Cal and within the Berkeley community in hopes of reaching out to not only the Latino community but people of all ethnic backgrounds.
Janet Ruvalcaba
Marketing Chair
Janet Ruvalcaba was born and raised in Ontario, CA alongside her four brothers Richard, Hector, Randy and Rury all of which have helped shape her to the person she is today.
As a third year at CAL, double majoring in Latin American Studies and Political Economy of Industrial Societies, she hopes to one day work with the FBI, CIA or any other international affairs related field. Serving as the fall ‘07 Marketing Co-Chair, she hopes to dramatically increase membership as well as increase the network within the business professionals. In addition she hopes to contribute to the organization’s overall goal that is of having LBSA be recognized as the premier business organization at UC Berkeley that transition’s its members to corporate America.

Gracie Esparza
Social Affairs
Gracie is a second year at Cal. She is an intended PEIS and Business major. She has a Spanish minor. She was born in Los Angeles. She went to Santa Fe High School in Los Angeles County. She has been part of LBSA for about a year. She was part of the national relations committee and marketing. She also helped VP of External Affairs put together a social with all the Latino Professional groups. Last semester, Gracie served as LBSA's Historian and now she is the Chair of Social Affairs. Gracie hopes to make this semester the best ever for LBSA's social life. She, along with her committee memebers and the help of the executive board, will be throwing a party in late February. She is also involved with the Trenza organization. She loves to play soccer and volleyball.

Jonah Leora
External Affairs
Jonah Loera is a 3rd year student at UC Berkeley currently holding the position of Senior VP of External Affairs for the 2007-2008 school year. He has been involved in LBSA since his freshman year and has held the positions of Historian and VP of Community Affairs in the past. His primary goal as SVP of External Affairs is to increase the value that LBSA corporate sponsors provide to the organization by establishing smoother lines of communication and outreaching to new sponsors in different industries. Within LBSA’s goal of embracing academic success, Jonah also plans to make corporate sponsors aware of LBSA member successes to help increase full-time and internship offers. Jonah was recently accepted to the Haas School of Business and has made it a priority to help this year’s LBSA applicants achieve the same goal. This past summer, Jonah worked at Chevron Oronite as a Change Management Intern for the company’s $90 million global SAP Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) implementation. Along with LBSA, Jonah is also treasurer of the community service organization Rotaract and past community service committee member of FSBC. His career pursuits include human resources and retail management.

Rachael Sanchez
Historian
Rachael Sanchez is a second year at Cal and an intended Political Economy of Industrial Societies Major. She was born in Monterey, CA and moved north to Redding, CA when she was one. Growing up Rachael excelled in academics and swimming. She graduated from Foothill High School in 2006. During her senior year, she participated in the College Connection Program at the local community college with other high school seniors. She has been involved with LBSA for a full semester. As a member of the Historian Committee, she gained experience writing articles, assigning prompts, and documenting meetings and events. As a result, she felt prepared and eager to transition into the role of Historian. She is excited to bring new ideas to the Latino Business Journal (LBJ). In doing so, she hopes to get LBSA members more involved in the LBJ and use sections of the newsletter to answer their questions and record their commendable efforts to develop themselves academically and professionally.

Nestor Vences
Director of National Relations
Nestor is currently a third year at UC Berkeley majoring in Mass Communications. Nestor was born in the Temascaltepec Mexico, a rural town in central Mexico. He moved to the US at the age of four and attended Nipomo High School in Nipomo CA. This will be his second semester on the LBSA board. Originally being the IT Operator, he was elected to be this years Director of National Relations. Through LBSA he hopes to gain leadership skills and long lasting friendships. This year, he hopes to connect more LBSA with its partner organizations like ALPFA. Nestor plans to obtain a job in the retail industry upon graduation. He enjoys following men's and women's fashion and reads The Economist, GQ, and Vogue religiously. He is also a recreational tennis player and dancer.
Nancy Gonzalez
Alumni Relations
Nancy Gonzalez is a third year at Cal. She is a Political Economy of Industrial Societies major. She’s been part of LBSA since 2006 as social committee member and finance committee member. Fall 2007 will be her first semester on the LBSA board. Her primary goal is to increase communication amongst students and alumni along side with our sponsors and be able to form stronger relationships. Our alumni’s broader extents of academic and professional experience provide mentorship to our students, while our sponsors provide our alumni with larger resources and opportunities, forming an LBSA networking bond. A new project she will be working on with the alumni is to provide multiple externships to UC Berkeley LBSA members in multiple business industries. This new opportunity will introduce and present different career fields and aid students pursue their area of interest after graduation. Along with LBSA, she is also the coordinator of Berkeley Scholars to Cal (BSC), a mentoring program with Berkeley High School students. Ashley Carrick
Community Affairs
Ashley Carrick is a second year at Cal and she is an intended Business and Econ major. She was born in Chicago and moved to San Diego for high school. She has been a part of LBSA since Fall of 06 and she has served on both Marketing and Internal Affairs Committees. Last semester she was the IT Operator for LBSA but this spring semester, she is VP of Community Affairs. She hopes to unite LBSA members by promoting consistent community service events this semester. Along with LBSA, Ashley is the VP of Corporate Relations for Berkeley Women in Business. Ashley works for Bank of America. She also interned at Google this past summer in the Finance Department. Ashley enjoys traveling especially to South America in order to visit her family. She also enjoys spending time with her friends and family.

Brenda Castillo
Professional Development
Brenda is a third year at Cal and her intended majors are in Business Administration and Political Economy of Industrial Societies. She was born in Mexico City and lived in her native country with her parents and younger brother. When she was 9 years old she moved with her family to California in the beautiful Napa Valley where she had to learn English and become accustomed to the new 'American' life. She had to convince her parents that in America it was ok to have sleep overs with friends and that Hip-Hop was actually the 'cool' music to listen to. She graduated from Justin Siena High School and has been active in LBSA ever since her freshmen year. She was VP of Alumni Affairs for her whole sophomore year last year. Now that she is the VP of Professional Development her main goal is to make sure that all LBSA members acquire the skills necessary to ensure internship opportunities and full-time offers next year. In addition to LBSA, Brenda is also involved in the YEAH program and on her free time she loves to dance and spend time with her family and friends. What she enjoys the most now are the car rides with her mother when her mother is actually the one blasting Hip-Hop in the car.
