Committees are the beat way to give back to LBSA the following is a quick description of each committee.
Academic Affairs:
LBSA Math/Statistics Tutor
- This committee member will be responsible for attending study halls on Tuesdays from 7-9 p.m. and assisting any LBSA members who request tutoring on math and statistics. Need to be able to provide students assistance on Math 16A/16B, Math 1A/1B and Statistics 21.
LBSA Writing Tutor
- This committee member will be responsible for attending study hall on Tuesdays from 7-9 p.m. and assisting any LBSA members who request tutoring on writing. Need to be able to provide students assistance on R1A and R1B courses and UGBA 10 module papers.
Haas Application Workshop Coordinator
- This committee member will be responsible finding future Haas applicants, creating a plan to encourage optimist about the application process, and helping organize the Haas application workshops.
Scholarship and Academic Program research assistant
- This committee member will do research to find out about scholarship opportunities or academic program opportunities
- This member will be a liaison between the Hispanic Scholarship Fund and LBSA.
Community Affairs:
Communications Officers (2)
- Maintain a direct line of communication between our various contacts. Help keep members up to date with the sponsor’s logistics.
Field Agents (2)
- A member in this position will be responsible for going out and being "visible" at our active sites. This may require a visit to local high schools and elementary schools.
Director of National Relations: (CLOSED)
Liaisons between LBSA and the Association of Latino Professionals in Finance and Accounting (ALPFA)
- Attend all National Relations Committee meetings and contribute effectively.
- Promote ALPFA and encourage other LBSA members to got to the events
- Attend at least half of every ALPFA event
- If any, attend all student chapter meetings
- If eligible, apply to ALPFA scholarships
- Join an ALPFA Committee
Director of Operations: (CLOSED)
Operational Assistant
- This person will be in charge of coordinating the reservations at certain restaurants for LBSA throughout the semester.
- Also, having the responsibility of remembering to pick up the projector for every LBSA event.
Finance: (CLOSED)
Event Planning (Excel workshop and fundraiser)
- Excel workshop. These committee member will assist in creating the very first excel workshop. This workshop will consist of two parts: use of flash key’s and data analysis tools/ modeling. No previous excel experience is necessary
- Fundraiser. This committee member will be responsible for composing a detailed business plan with the objective to raise funds for LBSA
- These committee members will meet every Tuesday at 5:30 in FSM
Financial Analysis/ Budgeting
- These committee members will be responsible for assisting the Event planning committee with all logistical measures.
- Committee members in the Financial Analysis Committee will be responsible for learning all tools and systems used in LBSA current financial system. Working knowledge of excel is a must and any entry level statistics course is recommended but not necessary
- These meetings will be in conjunction with Event Planning committee but will run an extra 30 minutes.
Historian:
Paparazzo (2-3 members)
- These committee members are responsible for taking photographs at various LBSA functions and deciding how they will be used
- Will be assigned specific events to take pictures and transfer to the Historian and IT Operator afterwards
- Will update the LBSA scrapbook for meetings, tabling, and other presentations
Newsletter (2-3 members)
- These committee members are responsible for assisting in the production of the monthly publication The Latino Business Journal (LBJ)
- Will brainstorm interesting article topics and research sponsors if needed
- Will aid in the decision of article assignments and write some of the articles
- Will assist in formatting, printing, and distribution of the completed LBJ
Internal Affairs:
Raza Liaison
- This committee member will be a liaison between LBSA and other Chicano/Latino organizations on campus by representing LBSA at bi-weekly Raza Caucus meetings
- Meetings are held every other Monday, from 5-6:00pm in 242 Chavez Center
Raza Event Coordinator
- This committee member will be in charge of coordinating events throughout the semester with other Chicano/Latino student groups
- One of the main tasks will be to help organize a community service involving the Latino community
Director’s Advisory Council (DAC) Liaison
- This person will be a liaison between LBSA and other Haas sponsored/affiliated organizations on campus
- Committee member will attend monthly DAC meetings with Haas organizations held the first Thursday of every month, from 9:30-11:00am in C250 at the Haas School of Business
Business Event Coordinator
- This committee member will be in charge of coordinating events throughout the semester with other Haas sponsored/affiliated organizations
- One of the main tasks will be to help organize a social mixer with other business student groups
Marketing Committee:
Flyer Designer
- This committee member will be responsible for designing flyers for each weekly event using Microsoft word, publisher and/or Adobe Photoshop
- Designer should also meet bi-weekly for no more than one hour to discuss marketing strategies for current semester’s events
Flyer Coordinator
- This committee member will be responsible for flyering atleast one day per week on campus
- Flyering coordinators should also meet bi-weekly for no more than one hour to discuss marketing strategies for current semester’s events
LBSA Table Attendants
- These committee members will be responsible for tabling no less than one hour per school week (Mon-Thurs.) and handing out flyers to students
- Inter-personal communication skills is essential for this position as it is necessary to inform students of the benefits LBSA offers and attract new students to each event
Professional Development:
Assistant Professional Advisor
- Meet with VP of Professional Development in 2 to 3 occasions to evaluate workshop progress
- Determine the top 4 business fields LBSAers are interested in pursing
- A business field will be assigned to you
- Research the business field
- Create a 20 min Power Point presentation on the business field
- Present the 20 min presentation to LBSAers at the LBSA Industry Workshop
Social Affairs:
Event Locators
- These members will be responsible for finding an attractive yet inexpensive venue for the LBSA party
Party Planner
- These committee members will be in charge of coming up with a design for flyers and theme for the party, in addition to this, the
y will arrange times and reserve dates for broomballing, game nights and any other suggested member socials
