As a partner of a Haas MBA student ….

  1. Do I have access to the library?
    1. Yes, a library card can be purchased for $100 – good for one year.  And one can use collections on-site at no charge.  http://www.lib.berkeley.edu/AboutLibrary/nonucbor.html

  1. Do I have access to the on-campus recreation hall/gym?

    1. No.

  1. Do I have access to ride public transportation for free or at a discount?
    1. No.

  1. Can I audit or register for classes at UC Berkeley?
    1. UC Berkeley does not have a formal auditing status. If you would like to audit a class, you will have to speak directly with the professor teaching the course. It is up to the professor if she/he will allow you to audit – this is not University endorsed. You may enroll through University Extension http://www.unex.berkeley.edu/ if you would like to receive a grade and/or credits for a particular class at UC Berkeley. Not all courses are available; the department that the class falls under will give permission.

  1. Can I participate in a campus sports league/team?
    1. Yes. If you are a member of RSF (Recreational Sports Facility). Partners can also participate in for C4C (Challenge for Charity).

  1. Can I attend at the student-rate to football games?
    1. Yes and No. If you are married, you can purchase season tickets at the student rate. You have to bring your marriage license to the ticket office to do so. For individual games and/or if you are not married, your “student” can purchase a ticket for you at the student-rate. One needs to show student ID in order to get the student-rate for services. Be warned – sometimes staff working the door will ask to see ID if you show up with a student-rate ticket. This could turn into a problem. It’s up to the both of you, if you want to chance it.

  1. Can I attend at the student-rate to Haas sponsored conferences and events?
    1. MBA students run conferences and events sponsored by Haas. It is up to the conference leader, if they will oblige and let partners come in at the student-rate. Check in with each conference leader individually. If you are not sure what events are coming down the pipeline, suggestions would be:  sign up for the Partners E-mail List-Serv (find out when Women & Wine will be held and other events that MBA students will email to the Partners List) and also encourage your “student” to inform you of what conferences/events are coming up that may be of interest to you – whether it be through the student newspaper, HaasWeek, or through the portal e-mail system. Encourage your student to sign-up for the “social” email list.

  1.   Can I receive counseling at the career center at Haas?
    1. The formal answer is “no” – non-students do not have rights to the career center. However, counselors at Haas will meet with partners to give advice/tips and help lead you in the right direction via career center resources. Please contact either of the following two people and introduce yourself to find out when would be best for you to come in.  Contact Sheri Lockshin at:  lockshin@haas.berkeley.edu or Lesah Beckhusen at:  beckhuse@haas.berkeley.edu
