Events/Activities in March

Argus Training kicked off with a 2-hour class on February 22nd. 60 students (50% MBA, 50% Undergraduate Real Estate Club) attended. Wednesday sessions will continue throughout the spring and will include analysis of office, industrial & retail properties. Check the syllabus for future dates and watch for update emails from Dave Saxe and/or Andy Zighelboim.
Scott Landsittel is now in charge of BREC’s checkbook (landsitt@haas.berkeley.edu). Please discuss any expenditure you expect to be reimbursed for with Scott before scheduling events. This also includes booking rooms at the Faculty Club.
Sean Ni, from the Undergraduate Real Estate Club (UREC) is now working with on the development and maintenance of the BREC website. Forward ideas on what you would like to see added (or improved) to herrick@haas.berkeley.edu or saxe@haas.berkeley.edu.
The BREC and UREC (Undergraduate Real Estate Club) are launching a mentorship program called CUB (Undergraduate and Berkeley Real Estate Mentorship Program) which is designed to connect graduate students with undergraduate students in a mentoring relationship. It is a good opportunity to further connect the real estate community at Berkeley and is a meaningful way for graduate students to give back to the university. Both mentors and mentees will be mutually benefited through this program.
For details of the program, please see the attached file. If you are interested to be a mentor, please reply this email to Kenneth Wu at jwu@haas.berkeley.edu. Your participation will be greatly appreciated.
Spring Firm Night is scheduled for April 20th at the St. Francis in San Francisco. More details to follow.
Moving forward with our Spring Firm Night planning, it's time to collect resumes, companies' names and feedback. This is how we split the work:
You need to send an updated version of your resume to Todd at tsmith@haas.berkeley.edu by next Monday, March 6th. Resumes will then be collectively forwarded to Thomas Randle from the Fisher Center and put together to create the Resume Book.
Note: Submitted resumes will also be made available online through the BREC website.
Use the attached spreadsheet template to fill in names of companies that you would like to see in this firm night and send it to me at barda@haas.berkeley.edu by next Monday, March 6th. Please make the effort to provide as much information as possible. Ideally, you will be able to provide us with a contact person in the company to make our invitations more focused and effective. Also, please use the exclamation mark column to rate the importance you see in a company's attendance ("!" for "I would like to see this company attend"; "!!" for "I want to see this company"; and "!!!" for "I'm not coming if this company is not attending").
We have all attended at least one firm night. Please use your experience and any other experiences you had in similar events to suggest anything we could do better in this firm night to make it as effective and successful as possible. Sarah at sarahharris@berkeley.edu will be collecting your input (again, by next Monday, March 6th).
