Semiconductor Equipment and Materials Industry eBusiness Survey

In partnership with:

The Project

This web-based survey of companies in the semiconductor manufacturing and semiconductor equipment and materials industries is being administered by researchers from the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley in conjunction with Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International and International Sematech. The survey asks for information about a number of eBusiness issues that affect semiconductor equipment and materials firms, including:

  • Rates of adoption of eBusiness applications to support a wide variety of corporate activities

  • The perceived benefits of implementing eBusiness applications

  • Obstacles to the implementation of eBusiness applications

  • Performance measures used in assessing the success or failure of eBusiness applications

  • Changes to industry structure associated with eBusiness deployment

This survey asks for background information on responding firms. We ask that you provide this information for the “strategic business unit” (SBU) in which you work, except where corporate-level data are requested.

We estimate that it will take approximately 30 to 45 minutes to complete this survey.

Participant Benefits

Survey participants will benefit from this research project by learning more about the current state of eBusiness and its implementation in the semiconductor manufacturing industry and semiconductor equipment and materials industry. Broad participation by U.S. and international members of the equipment and materials industry will also help SEMI develop initiatives that support the eBusiness efforts of its member firms.

The UC Berkeley research team will tally and aggregate the completed surveys, and provide summary results to all survey participants. We will also provide a report detailing the major findings to all survey participants.

Confidentiality

All information obtained in connection with, by reason of, or in preparation of this research shall be regarded as confidential. To ensure confidentiality, the UC Berkeley research team has signed non-disclosure agreements with SEMI. All information furnished during the terms of this research program concerning SEMI’s and SEMI member firms’ business activities will be treated as strictly confidential and no firm-specific information will be disclosed without the written permission of individual firms.
