Haas General Management and Strategy Club
MISSION
The Haas General Management and Strategy Club exists to educate Haas students about the various roles individuals play within the Strategy, Business Development, and General Management functions, and to increase the depth and breadth of Strategy, Business Development, and Leadership Development Program career opportunities available to Haas students. The club promotes interaction between full-time and evening/weekend MBA students interested in strategy and management roles as well as alumni currently working in such roles.
OBJECTIVES
The club seeks to accomplish several main objectives:
- Increase the availability of Strategy, Business Development, and Leadership Development and Rotational Programs jobs to Haas students.
- Educate students about key responsibilities and functions of GM&S positions in various industries.
- Prepare the next generation of leaders through club-sponsored events.
EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES
CEO Spotlight Event: This one-night event gives students the opportunity to learn from those who have taken risks, made difficult decisions, balanced work and family, and become successful leaders along the way career treks. Past speakers include Steve Rendle, President of The North Face. The event also features a reception with Haas alums in General Management, Strategy, and Business Development roles.
General Management & Strategy Speaker Series: This one-unit course aims to educate Haas students about the various roles individuals play within the Strategy, Business Development, and General Management functions. Each week, a guest executive will speak on their firm's areas of concentration and culture, concluding with an opportunity for students to ask questions.
2nd-Year Career Panel: As part of the internship recruiting season, the club organizes a Panel/ Brown Bag with 2nd years to help Haas students understand specific career paths and set expectations about the interview process. This event is open to everyone.
Career Treks: Based on the preferences of the Club members, the club hosts various treks to companies in the Bay Area that offer career opportunities in Strategy, Business Development, or General Management.
Social Events: Club-sponsored social events held each semester provide a forum for interaction between students of different years and within different MBA programs (full-time, evening, or weekend).
