Gil Friend

Gil Friend is President and CEO of Natural Logic, Inc., a software and strategy firm that helps companies build profit and competitive advantage through exceptional environmental performance. Natural Logic's clients range from Agilent Technologies and Nike to the US EPA. Mr. Friend was previously principal in Gil Friend and Associates, a noted strategic environmental management consultancy, CEO of SEND Inc., a social marketing company, Policy Analyst in the California Governor's Office, co-founder and co-director of Institute for Local Self-Reliance, and a founding board member of Internet pioneer Institute for Global Communications. He currently serves on the Boards of Directors of Natural Logic, and the Sustainable Business Alliance. Mr. Friend is a senior instruction in Sweden's "Natural Step" management system, and holds an MA in Systems Ecology from Antioch University, as well as an Aikido black belt and a certificate in Permaculture Design. He counts among his significant mentors Gregory Bateson, Stafford Beer and Buckminster Fuller.
