Shelly Herman
For 15 years, Shelly Herman has worked in underserved markets, from financing new businesses to identifying market opportunities for investment. For the past five years she has been at Shorebank, a billion-dollar bank and family of funds that invests globally to provide economic opportunity. Ms. Herman is responsible for growing Shorebank's national consulting business, which focuses on aggregating and deploying community investment capital. Ms. Herman is a strong proponent of social enterprise. She is launching the Chicago Ventures Fund to invest in Chicago-area social enterprises and Neighborhood Markets, a global information business to attract companies to underserved urban areas. She has advised non-profits and funding efforts in this arena such as her current advisory board position with the Corporation for Supportive Housing. She received an MBA from MIT's Sloan School of Management and a BA from Brown University.
