WHAT
|
A
business plan competition to promote the development
of ventures that weave together business tools
with innovative solutions to social and environmental
problems.
Finalists
will pitch their plans to a judging panel of corporate
leaders, entrepreneurs, social venture capitalists,
and venture philanthropists. Winners will receive
a substantial cash prize.

WHY
|
To
challenge conventional
business solutions to pressing social and environmental
concerns;
To
inspire business school students and alumni
to innovate and apply socially conscious business
practices; and
To
encourage
investors to support new mission-driven
business ventures that simultaneously promote
social responsibility and profitability.

WHERE
|
Finalists
will convene at the Haas School of Business at
the University of California, Berkeley, for the
final round and awarding of prizes.
|
|
WHEN
|
The
competition will involve three rounds in the spring
of 2001:
- January
22: Executive summary submission and screening
- February
20: Full plan submission and selection of
finalists
- April
13-14: Finalist pitches and awards ceremony

WHO
|
We
welcome entries from teams across the country.
Your plan must be for a profitable business, but
it can be run by a non-profit. Each team must
include at least one current MBA student.
Plans must include the following:
- Socially
responsible mission
- Innovative
approach
- Quantifiable
societal impact
