Jill Alvidrez
Jill Alvidrez, a first-year MBA student, serves the Marketing Team of the
Competition. For more than two years, she worked in marketing and
performance analysis at Kaiser Permanente in Oakland, California, after
earning a MA in Linguistics from the University of California at Santa
Barbara and a BA in Linguistics at Pomona College.
Jay Badenhope
Jay Badenhope has over five years of experience in software development, telecommunications, billing, process definition, testing, and management of technological change as a Principal at American Management Systems. Most recently, Mr. Badenhope managed testing and requirements teams in the implementation of Portal Infranet billing software for Rhythms Netconnections, a DSL carrier in Denver, CO. Before that he spent one year leading the collaboration between Globalstar, a satellite communications company, and its international partners, including Qualcomm, Vodafone, France Telecom, and Alcatel, in the adoption of shared operations processes. Mr. Badenhope gained significant international experience during a three-year assignment with KPN Telecom in The Hague, the Netherlands. During this assignment, he led the effort to prepare KPN's functional group for ownership of a large-scale billing system after implementation. This preparation included establishing processes, training, problem solving, and resolving management issues related to organizing a client organization to support a new system. Since October 1998, this system bills 7 million residential customers.
Mr. Badenhope received a Bachelor of Arts from UCLA in Political Science with a specialization in International Relations. He is currently an MBA student at UC Berkeley's Walter A. Haas School of Business with an emphasis in technology and marketing. While at Haas, Mr. Badenhope has organized a recruiting trip for students to visit technology firms in San Diego, raised funds for the Haas Social Venture Competition, and written feature articles on technology for HaasWeek, the MBA student newspaper.
Mr. Badenhope has significant international work, study, and travel experience as well as an affinity for foreign languages and culture.
Krisila Benson
Krisila spent five years in West Africa before joining the Haas class of '02.
She spent a year and a half in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, promoting condom
use as a volunteer and then consultant with the American non-governmental
organization Population Services International. She then spent three and a
half years in Niamey, Niger, as the Director of the State Department-sponsored
English Language Program. After business school Krisila plans to pursue a career
in international development. She is particularly interested in the transfer
of capital and knowledge to entrepreneurs in sub-Saharan Africa. Krisila is
originally from Idaho and received her BA from Boston University in Political
Science. Her interests include playing the French horn, Ultimate Frisbee and travel.
Christi Burdick
Christi Burdick graduated from Indiana University with a BS in Business
Marketing. She moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota where she worked for three
years as a buyer for Target. She spent the following two years working as
an advertising executive for an Agency in Chicago. Christi was very
involved with the Women's Adverting Club of Chicago where she led a
research project designed to identify influences of satisfaction for women
in the advertising industry which was presented to key advertising executives.
Julie Clugage
With degrees in economics, government and public policy from Dartmouth
(A.B., 1990) and Princeton (M.P.A., 1996), Julie has focused on Latin
American economic development. Before coming to Haas, she was with the
World Bank and the Inter-American Development Bank in Washington, DC, where
she focused on private sector participation in the provision of
infrastructure services. Previously, she lived in a rural Mayan village in
Guatemala for two years, running a small textile business and teaching in
the local schools, and she did microenterprise work for USAID in Bolivia.
Julie is currently interested in for-profit initiatives designed to bring
information infrastructure to developing countries. She has enjoyed
participating in the Judging and Rules Subcommittee of the Haas Social
Venture Competition.
Dennis Cox
Dennis Cox graduated from UCLA and worked as a mechanical engineer for
Fluor Daniel in Orange County, CA, and then for Qwest Communications in
Denver, CO. He currently is the MBA Association VP of Communications and
is working towards his Management of Technology Certificate.
Dayna Greenspan
Dayna received her B.S. in Quantitative Economics and a minor in
Environmental Studies from U.C. San Diego in 1996.
Prior to coming to Haas, she spent two and half years working at a
consulting firm where she assessed the costs and strategies associated with
environmental remediations for a number of utilities, manufacturers and
government agencies. Dayna's focus is corporate sustainability and
environmental management.
Samanth Gross
Samantha holds a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Illinois
and an MS in Environmental Engineering form Stanford. Prior to attending Haas,
she spent six years in environmental consulting, working on hazardous waste
minimization and management and cleanup of contaminated soil and groundwater
at military bases and industrial sites. Samantha's interests include
environmentally sustainable manufacturing, energy resources, waste minimization,
and international development. In her spare time she enjoys running, travel,
rock climbing, and reading something other than textbooks.
Scott Hirsch
Prior to enrolling at Haas, Scott Hirsch devoted six years of work in the
public and non-profit sectors to the design and implementation of effective
AmeriCorps programs. Often referred to as the domestic Peace Corps, AmeriCorps
is a public-private program that promotes sustainable volunteer initiatives for
Americans who are willing to commit a year of public service in return for
a scholarship to pursue post-secondary education. From 1994-1998, Scott directed
a national AmeriCorps program that taught pesticide safety to migrant and seasonal
farmworkers. He later applied this experience to his work as Senior Program Officer
of AmeriCorps programs for the state of Texas, while at the Texas Commission on
Volunteerism and Community Service. Scott holds a dual Bachelor of Arts degree in
English and Environmental Science from the University of Virginia.
Eric Meyerson
Eric Meyerson grew up in Miami and has been recovering ever since. In
1995, Wesleyan University in Connecticut awarded him a BA in Government.
After college, he returned to Miami to work for Andersen Consulting (now
Accenture), and he transferred to their Washington, DC office in 1996,
where he consulted federal, state and local agencies on human services
and human resources processes and systems. He is an avid writer and a
horrible dancer, and he amazes people with his in-depth knowledge of
television shows he claims not to watch.
Clark Miller
Clarke is a first year MBA student concentrating on corporate environmental
management and sustainable business strategies. He worked as a consultant
for the last 4 years at an international strategic consulting firm that
specializes in the food and beverage industry. Clarke is a co-president of
Net Impact (formerly Students for Responsible Business), a club for MBA
students interested in corporate social responsibility and wishing to harness
the power of business to make positive changes in the world.
Sara Noe
Sara graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1995. Prior to Haas, she
lived in Chicago and worked as a manager in Arthur Andersen's Business Consulting
division. At Arthur Andersen, Sara helped clients improve financial and
accounting processes as well as implement ERP systems. While in Chicago, Sara
was the treasurer and member of the Lincoln Park Community Shelter (LPCS).
LPCS is a non-profit organization that provides meals, overnight shelter, and
counseling services to homeless men and women.
Chad Nokleby
Chad Nokleby is a first year MBA student concentrating in finance and technology
at Haas. After graduating from the University of Wisconsin at La Crosse in 1994,
Chad worked in Minneapolis as an auditor and financial consultant for private
and public clients. In 1999, Chad relocated to Phoenix where he worked as an
M&A consultant. Chad's interests include traveling, scuba diving, and sports of all kind.
Doug Park
Prior to attending Haas, Doug worked in Africa for 3.5 years as a
volunteer & financial advisor for Habitat for Humanity International.
His main role was to redesign and implement a new finanical reporting
system for community developmnet projects covering 12 countries. Prior
to his career in the non-profit sector, he worked at Coopers & Lybrand
L.L.P in the San Francisco office. As a certified public accountant
(CPA), he conducted audits of public companies and delivered tax services
to a variety of clients including individuals, corporations and
partnerships. Doug holds a B.A. in economics from the University of
California Berkeley, where he graduated with departmental honors. He is
glad to be back at Berkeley pursuing his MBA degree, specializing in
finance and international business, and enjoying the variety outdoor
activities around the bay area.
Rebekah Saul
Rebekah Saul is currently an MBA/MPH candidate at the University of California,
Berkeley. A Bay Area native, she earned an AB with Distinction in Sociology
and Spanish from Stanford University in 1994. Between 1994 and 1999, Rebekah
worked in multiple roles in the Washington, D.C. Office of The Alan Guttmacher
Institute, a not-for-profit corporation for reproductive health research,
policy analysis and public education. In 1999, Rebekah relocated to Peru to
provide strategy consulting services to a nonprofit organization that promotes
improved economic conditions in the Amazon Basin. At U.C. Berkeley, Ms. Saul
is an executive committee member of the Haas Social Venture Competition, a
national business plan competition for entrepreneurs who seek to build
enterprises that are both profitable and redress a serious social or
environmental problem. She is also active in the healthcare and non-profit
management clubs.
Josie Taylor
Josie Taylor graduated from Princeton University in 1994 with a degree in
Slavic Languages and Literatures. After college, she moved to Moscow,
Russia where she worked as a fixed income and equity analyst in Russia's
emerging capital markets. Upon returning to the US, Josie spent 6 months at
Fannie Mae's American Communities Fund, a socially responsible venture
capital fund, before joining The Advisory Board Foundation, a private family
foundation based in Washington, DC. At the Advisory Board Foundation, Josie
managed a partnership with Russian Children's Hospital and helped launch
ServiceCorps, an award-winning corporate volunteer program that matches
employees with outstanding local nonprofits.
Krishna Venkatraman
Krishna Venkatraman, a first year MBA student, spent the past twelve
years in Silicon Valley working in various technical capacities for companies
such as Remedy Corporation and Oracle Corporation. Most recently, he
founded a technical consulting company providing Internet startups with
product design and development assistance. His interest in all things
software is dwarfed by his love of golf. Krishna hit his only hole-in-one on
August 8, 1998, a date indelibly stamped into his brain. Krishna completed
his MS in Computer Science and a B.E in Electrical Engineering before moving
out to Silicon Valley.
