Wines of the
Month
The Haas
Wines of the Month are wines available to Haas Wine Industry Club Members
at a 10% discount from Vintage Berkeley, our official wine shop. Our
friends at Vintage Berkeley have picked out two great wines for us this
month:
White
Wine of the Month: SOAVE 2004 Tamellini (Soave – Italy)
"Wowza ! I’ve had some pretty vague (boring) Soaves in my
tastings of late - until now. Tamellini is amazing
stuff! 100% Garganega fermented in stainless steel – which is stunning considering that its nutty
richness and creamy citrus taste could pass for a Grand Cru Chablis. If
you’re hankering for a great Italian bianco or Burgundy stunt-double,
drink Tamellini!"
Red
Wine of the Month: COLONIA Las LIEBRES, Bonarda 2005 (Mendoza – Argentina)
"Bonarda is almost as big as
Malbec when it comes to acreage and local importance in Argentina. It came
there via Italy, probably from Piedmont. Colonial Las Libres is a textbook
example of un-oaked and unfiltered wines: The fruit is dark with a brisk
acidity slicing through the blackberry taste. Take me to the pizza…or with meat!"
